Graduate Programme

International Power offers a rotational programme for six month blocks over a two year period with the final six months being an operational elective. Training is conducted through a variety of formats including formal classroom training, on-the-job training, shadowing, seminars, external training, and e-learning. We recognise that learners have different learning styles and wherever possible we structure your learning to suit your style. You will be appointed a mentor for the full two year programme and you will enjoy the benefit of a corporate sponsor. You will have the opportunity to receive feedback and to provide feedback on your own development.

Timing

The timing of the selection process will take at least 6 weeks from the time you are informed that your application has been approved. We will then invite you to participate in a few search steps so that we can get to know you. While we ask that you be patient during the selection process, we do understand that it is frustrating not knowing when the next step might take place.

Our calendar guide is intended to help you understand exactly when each part of the process takes place. As you progress through each step of the process we will contact you directly and keep you informed of what is expected next. The search process is an important part of your ultimate placement. It helps us to ensure that you understand our requirements and we understand your needs and ambitions.

Being clear from the start is the best way of ensuring your expectations are met.

November - December
Applications need to be completed and submitted prior to 26 January.
You will receive an automated response informing you that your application has been received. Incomplete applications will not be pursued so please ensure that you are able to submit a completed application with all relevant details.

December - February
Should your application be successful, you will be informed via email or post that your application has been accepted. This is the first step in the process. You will then be invited to complete a few competency/behavioural related questions. We suggest you approach the questions thoughtfully as they are an important part of the selection process.

On successful completion of these assessments, you will be asked to take part in a telephonic interview. We will forward guidelines directly to you so that you know exactly what to expect throughout the interview.

February - March
At the end of February we will inform you of the outcome of the telephonic interview and if you are successful, we will invite you to attend an assessment centre in March. The assessment centre will be conducted in London and we will provide you with an opportunity to meet senior managers from the business and previous graduates. We will send you guidelines detailing the assessment process so that you know exactly what to expect during the day.

March
You will be informed of the final outcome of the selection process. We will contact you directly and send you an offer letter which you need to sign and return to us. Upon receiving your acceptance we will send you a contract confirming your place on our graduate programme.

September
You will commence your graduate programme at International Power.

Assessment Centre

The assessment centre is conducted in London and provides the final few candidates with an opportunity to meet key people in the business. It also gives us an opportunity to understand your personal strengths and capabilities. All local travel expenses will be reimbursed.

The assessment centre provides you with an opportunity to meet previous International Power graduates who are successfully employed in our Corporate Office and to view our facilities at Head Office and the environment in which you might find yourself working.

Interviews

There will be two interviews conducted during the screening process. The first interview will be a telephonic interview. You will be sent guidelines detailing what to expect and what is expected of you. It is not a lengthy interview but it is intended to help us understand a little more about you and establish what your expectations and aspirations are.
